At the start of 2024, I moved home to Bahrain. Whilst there I wanted to connect with some of the core principles I aim for my work to encompass—working outdoors, being actively engaged with and positively affecting communities and the environment, and engaging my creative skills in multifaceted ways. I got ridiculously lucky when a mutual friend introduced me to Reem Yateem, an educator and founder of ‘Learn to Grow’. The farm is an education-focused outdoor space which aims to engage young learners (and older ones too!) with permaculture and sustainable practices. We have worked together for half a year now, creating creative responses to engage learners and connect to our local ecology, such as ecologically accurate colouring pages and activity sheets, workshops utilising natural materials, or helping to continue the farms success through outreach and planting.
