Wolli Creek to Muddy Creek

Sunday 3rd November

Taylor and I spent the morning walking from Wolli Creek to Muddy Creek, a walk which took us through the Tempe house park, over Princes Street and the M5, past the river side developments looking out onto the airport, through secret wetlands under motorway bridges, and eventually into the heart of the market gardens.

The images and video in this post were taken by Taylor Coyne for Swamp City. Thanks Taylor!

The walk was brilliant and potentially my favourite yet, despite the many main roads and sweltering tarmac we had to traipse over. The reason being, was finding the Eve Street wetlands, a beautiful natural habitat located underneath the M5 motorway. It really blew me away.

This time, we brought along microphones, to try to capture some of the conversations Taylor and I have whilst walking. Taylor’s seemingly limitless knowledge of the water infrastructure here and it’s strange histories and stories is ample enough to fill hours of recording, and I worry about my limited memory, and missing any of the key details. In fact, listening back I heard things I had missed the first time around.
